Food is the best part of Thanksgiving for many people. However, it can be hard to get your kids to eat items that they aren’t used too. Luckily there are quite a few side dishes that use some of your favorite Thanksgiving foods in a way that will have your kids coming back for seconds. My kids are getting old enough to help in the kitchen and these are a few of the side they like to make for themselves.

Yam Crunch
Ingredients:
– 1 cup canned yams
– 1/3 cup butter
– 1/2 cup brown sugar
– 1/2 cup corn flakes

To make:
Spray an 8 inch by 8 inch pan with cooking spray. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Place the yams into a bowl and mash them with a fork. Put the smashed yams into the pan and spread them out evenly. Melt the butter in the microwave for 30 seconds. Put the brown sugar, butter and corn flakes into a bowl and mix together. Sprinkle the mixture over top of the yams. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes.

Cheesy Cubed Potatoes
Ingredients:
– 6 cooked potatoes
– 8 ounces of shredded cheese
– ½ cup sour cream
– 1 cup water

To make:
Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes. Place the potatoes into a pot and pour the water overtop of them. Pour in the cheese and sour cream. Cook over medium heat until the cheese is melted. Stir occasionally.

Cauliflower Tots
Ingredients:
– 2 cups cooked, chopped cauliflower
– 2 eggs
– 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
– ½ cup breadcrumbs

To make:
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Place the Parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs into a bowl and mix together. Crack the eggs and place them in their own bowl and stir. Place one piece of chopped cauliflower into the egg, then into the Parmesan and breadcrumb mixture. Put the coated piece of cauliflower onto the baking sheet. Repeat this process with each piece of cauliflower. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes.
