Snacks for Soccer – healthy suggestions

Spring soccer has begun! We are already 3 games into the season and so far we have 2 wins and 1 loss! Today is my day to bring the soccer snack. Each family gets assigned at least two games during the season so that way every one chips in. I always rely on my daughter to tell me what she would like to take for snack. So, for today we are taking Capri Sun as our beverage, sliced watermelon and a variety of cupcakes. Usually my kids do not indulge on some of the sugar treats we are taking today but my daughter has explained that after running around for a whole game a cupcake is just want you need – how can I argue with that!

Here are some other suggestions – Snacks for Soccer

  • Fresh Fruit: sliced Oranges, Watermelon, Strawberries
  • Applesauce, Jello
  • Pudding
  • Yogurt
  • String Cheese
  • Granola Bars
  • Lowfat Muffins

After working hard during a game these snacks are sure to help any soccer player refuel ! Along with drinking plenty of water the options I have listed above are a great idea. Remember, always find out if any of the players have food allergies before bringing a team snack !
