Gifts For Mothers’ Day

| April 30, 2012 | 0 Comments

All right, moms, your day is coming up soon! This year, Mothers’ Day is observed on May 13, and your kids will be falling all over themselves making you handprint cards, giving you flowers and serving you breakfast in bed. While it’s likely that your child’s teacher or your partner will assist young ones with these special gifts, it might be up to you to help out with making gifts for the other important moms in your child’s life, like her grandmothers, aunts and special family friends and neighbors. Here are a few tips and suggestions for Mothers’ Day gifts that the kids can make:

  • Spa Experience Gift Basket

All moms want to be able to relax, and this gift basket will certainly help the special mom in your life to do so! Fill a small jar about 3/4 of the way full of Epsom salts, and add a few tablespoons of bath oil. Mix well, cover and tie with a pretty ribbon. You can also add a few drops of food coloring if you want to go with a color-coordinated theme. Add this jar of homemade bath salts to a basket containing and or all of the following: a small bottle of bubble bath; a pretty washcloth, loofah or body puff; small bottles of sweet-smelling shampoo, conditioner and/or shower gel; lotion; a candle in her favorite scent; a pumice stone or other bath-and-body products. If she has small children, an offer to take them off of her hands for a couple of hours so she can enjoy her gift in peace will be invaluable!

  • Scrapbook

This one is a great idea for grandmas, faraway aunties and others who are always asking for pictures of your children! Buy a small scrapbook, and fill it with photos that have been taken over the course of the last several months. Add little notations, lists of milestones and other personalized writing, and you’ll be able to present her with a gift that will bring joy for years. If you don’t have the time, desire or ability to make one yourself, consider using a digital photo book service. For example, when you use VistaPrint coupons, you can save money while making a quality book that will stand the test of time.

  • Photo Gifts

This is one of my favorite gifts to receive! Every year I make my grandmother a family calendar that is fully customized with all the pictures of the family and she enjoys is for the whole year! It is usually a Christmas gift but she was not here for the holidays so it is going to be her Mother’s Day Gift! Another idea that is perfect for grandmothers are these new customizable frames from Tiny Prints. They are called Easel Art and they come in two different sizes. What I love about them is not only the quality but the fact that it is customized with my photos and it is printed right on the frame so it is the perfect gift right out of the box! Make sure to check for the many Tiny Prints Coupons that are available. I got this as a gift for both my parents and they proudly display it in the offices! My kids sat with my at the computer and picked the pictures they thought Nana and Papa would want to see so it was a family project!

  • The Gift of Time

Particularly for women who don’t get to spend as much time as they’d like with your children, a gift of time spent with them would probably be very appreciated. Offer to host a monthly cookie-baking get-together with your kids’ grandmothers, or see if your neighbor would like your child’s help in planting her spring garden. These times will become treasured memories for the adult and the children alike.
