Memorial Day is more than a day where we go to the beach, BBQ or parade. The real meaning for this day is to remember those who have died serving our country. In the United States Memorial Day a federal holiday that is observed on the last Monday of May. Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868 by General John Logan. On Memorial Day, the flag should be at half-staff until noon only, then raised to the top of the staff. Also, at 3:00 PM observe a minute of silence and if you are driving, turn on your lights. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries and memorials around the country. The Memorial Day weekend also marks the beginning of the summer season!
