Less Radiation with a Headset

A few days ago we reported on how the World Health Organization listed cell phones on the list of “carcinogenic hazards”. The Radiation from cell phones may cause cancer. Since the release of Twitter and Facebook less and less people use the phone to call each other. Instead, we all send each other Text messages or post on someone’s wall to talk. I think this trend will continue to increase especially considering that scientists have found that the potential risk of brain cancer occurs when phones are held against the user’s ear.

Since that report came out I certainly have been paying more attention as to where I keep my cell phone. I usually keep it hooked to my belt but, according to the new report you need to keep the phone away from your body. I am going to make some changes. The first change is that I am switching to a wireless earpiece. Yesterday, my husband went to Best Buy to get me the Jawbone Noise Assasin 3.0. It is advertisted to Kill Noise. The Military grade NoiseAssassin eliminates more noise than any other headset. It auto adjusts the volume depending on your surroundings. I did get a phone call this morning and my daughter was screaming in the background and the person on the phone told me they could not hear her! This device has a built in battery meter for Iphone and Blackberry phones so I will always know when to charge it. So far it lasts about 5 hours of talk time which is more than I need. Another cool feature I did not notice the Jawbone has is the High Definition sound it gives you when you listen to music with it. The NoiseAssassin also allows you to hear text messages, emails and tweets. This really is a useful device for all moms because it allows you to be hands free but it also exposes you to less radiation. Do you want to know where your cell phone ranks on the list of highest radiation phones ? CNN created a chart of all the different phones. Highest on the list are the Motorola Bravo (MB520), Motorola Droid 2, Palm Pixi, Motorola Boost i335, Blackberry Bold 9700. This searchable table contains all the cell phone models available from the major U.S. carriers as of December 2010 (newer models may not be listed). The numbers refer to the rate of radiofrequency energy your body absorbs from the phone. Most phones on the market fall between 0.35 and 1.59 watts per kilogram, which is the maximum level allowed by the U.S. government
