Canned Foods to Avoid with the most bpa phthalates

Great article I found from thedailygreen.com on a new study that suggests the way to cut exposure to BPA and phthalates is to stop eating canned foods. In a new study, contamination from food packaging was identified as the main source of exposure to two suspect chemicals — bisphenol-A and phthalates. Cutting canned foods from their diets cut exposures by more than 50%. Here are the top 10 canned foods to avoid.

The Breast Cancer Fund and the Silent Spring Institute have identified these 10 canned foods as the best to avoid, due to their relatively high levels of contamination:

  1. Coconut milk
  2. Soup
  3. Meat
  4. Vegetables
  5. Meals (like ravioli in sauce)
  6. Juice
  7. Fish
  8. Beans
  9. Meal-replacement drinks
  10. Fruit

    According to this list, pet food is only safe canned products to eat. And they probably were not tested.
