Travel like: Eat Pray Love – the movie

Eat, Pray, Love written by Elizabeth Gilbert, is the story of a woman’s travels to three destinations in one year:  Italy, India and Indonesia. It tells her story about a journey of soul-searching and self-discovery. The movie adaptation of this incredible story starring actress Julia Roberts, opens in theaters tomorrow and all eyes on will be on Bali and India as the next HOT travel destinations.  Italy of course will continue to be a top destination as well, but the movie is certain to spark the interest of travelers who perhaps would have never considered these countries until now.

Italy’s capital, Rome, offers a wealth of history. Admire St. Peter’s Basilica and Michelangelo’s miraculous Sistine Chapel or cross the Tiber River to the Forum and Circus Maximus, where chariot races once roared. Here find the mighty Colosseum where you can relive the stories of the gladiators!  While spending time in Rome, Gilbert strived to learn the language and enjoy the cuisine.  The movie displays Rome’s beauty and vast history. She embraces what Italian’s are famous for…the dolce vida.

In India, the author spent time at an ashram near Mumbai, but you don’t need to spend months to appreciate all that India has to offer.  India boasts a rich and romantic past, majestic beauty and colorful bazaars and festivals. Visit the legendary Taj Mahal or the mystifying temples on Elephanta Island. Explore the most opulent Palace of the Mughal Empire, and Chandni Chowk, the bustling and colorful market of the old city. Perhaps take a rickshaw ride

Ubud, Bali is the place where the author learns how to balance earthly treasures with spirituality and discovers the meaning of love. Ubud is a spiritual place hidden in the mountainous region of Bali, often referred to as Balis cultural capital, where the countryside remains unspoiled, with lush rice paddies and coconut trees and it offers rich cultural experiences. A true hidden paradise at exceptional value for money.

I am dedicating tomorrow’s blog to highlighting travel packages for all 3 destinations, so you can “let yourself go!”
