Bad Economy = Birth Control?

couple paying billsI know the title of this post will throw you off a little but take the information any way you would like but there seem to be less births in times of financial hardships. I read an article a few days ago on the subject of how in times of a bad economy there is a direct correlation to a decrease in births. The article from Lifeinc.Today noted that “The Centers for Disease Control reported last month that fertility rates fell 4 percent between 2007 and 2009, to 66.7 births per 1,000 women ages 15 to 44. That’s the largest drop in more than 30 years.” Pew Research Center published a report last year comparing birth rate data with economic data and finding a link between the two. It is a very interesting study that you should read. None of us want to bring children into an uncertain future. Right now there are so many people that are still looking for jobs and without health insurance or they are struggling to stay in their homes. I completely see how the economy could effect having kids. I know the financial cutbacks we have had to go through even in our own household because of paycuts. What are your thoughts on this ?
